   :: Kenta Naka

A player you will see often around Elmwood Tennis Club is Kenta Naka. Club coach Terry Mooney has recently groomed him as one of the up-and-coming coaches for the club.

Kenta has an easy confidence with the Saturday morning kids, and when he plays competitive interclub.

   :: competitive tennis - singles

Kenta also plays competitively. He was 4th seed in the Boys 16 single at the South Island Indoor Singles, played in Dunedin in July 2006.

Kenta narrowly lost in the first round to Matthew Foo Wen Kai (0-6; 6-4; 6-3)

But he steamed on to beat James Hunt (6-0; 6-1) then Nima Purvis (6-1; 6-1) and Scott Campbell (6-0; 6-0) to take out the Consolation round.

He is also the 2007 Mens senior champion, after defeating Michael Averill (9-4), Amnet Thepprasak (9-2), Greg White (9-0), and Yun Fu.

   :: doubles

He has also paired up fellow Elmwood player, Thomas Abbott to play doubles in Feb-06. They were top seed in the Boys' 14 Doubles at the ASB Junior Open (February 18-19, 2006 in Blenheim).

In the Final Round they beat:
Allan Moore/Mickey Sweeny (9-2),
Caleb Mooney/ Samuel Sadler (9-3) and then
